About Misoprostol - Generic Cytotec

Misoprostol - Generic Cytotec is a synthetic prostaglandin. This has been shown to protect the stomach lining from ulcerating effects of NSAID’s. This protects the stomach lining and decreases stomach acid secretion.
This is prescribed for the prevention of stomach ulceration and related ulcer complications (such as ulcer bleeding, obstruction, and perforation) in patients on aspirin and other NSAID’s medications. It is especially considered for patients who are at high risk of developing stomach ulcers and their complications while taking NSAID’s. These include elderly patients, patients with other debilitating illnesses (such as heart failure), patients with prior history of ulcer disease and bleeding. Do not take this to prevent ulcers if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. This may cause miscarriages, premature labour, or birth defects.
